How much protein do people over 60 need?
The PROT-AGE Study Group recommends adults over 65 get at least 1.0–1.2 g of protein per kilogram of body weight a day, and 1.2 g/kg or more if they are active. Read more in protein after 50.
Does pre-digested protein matter for older adults?
In a study of men with an average age of 64, hydrolysed (pre-digested) casein was digested and absorbed faster than the same protein intact, and raised blood amino acid levels 25–50% more (Koopman et al., American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 2009). Recov is taken all the way down to di- and tri-peptides.
How do I take it?
The everyday level is 6 tablets a day: 2 on waking, 2 in the early afternoon and 2 before bed, with water. Take them together or split across the day. If you train, the chart goes to 8–12 a day, and 12–18 a day for performance and recovery. Recov contains no caffeine or stimulants.
Is there anything I should check first?
Recov is made from porcine (pig) plasma protein, so it isn't suitable for vegans or vegetarians, for halal or kosher diets, or for anyone with a mammalian meat allergy. If you manage a health condition or take prescription medication, check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding Recov or any other supplement.
